Sacred Rivers at Hin Bus Depot

Place

KL-based photographer, KC Chong, has a noble aim with his new solo exhibition, Sacred Rivers. He  hopes to show how rivers are intrinsically linked to everyday life, and what people stand to lose if they do  not respect and treat them well. Whatever the aim, the effect is electrifying. The larger prints, such as  these ones of men unloading a fishing boat in Bangladesh, or of women crouching together in the flower market, manage to find extraordinary beauty within the daily grind of the lives of people who live and  work riverside.

Smaller photos such as these men (stone breakers) are still highly atmospheric and rich with detail.
KC Chong points out the importance of the rivers of India and Bangladesh, where these photographs were all taken between 2011 and 2014, as both spiritual and commercial centres. Both aspects have been captured admirably in these photos. The prices are also reasonable, at RM1000 for the large ones and RM500 for the small ones.
